| Home.

Indeed I am home and though I'm glad to be I'm sad that the life I was leading a week ago is nothing but a memory to the life I lead here though it meant everything to me.
| Give us some sunshine.
And like the English, by "us" I mean me. Still everyday I'm figuring out 100 different bits of linguistics.
I should be sleeping now preparing for the 5am taxi picking me up Sunday morning to take me to Heathrow to a plane that will take me to Ireland. My wonderful friend Julie is in Ireland now. I can't express how excited I am about seeing her. About having someone to talk to in the hours before 6pm for the first time since the end of April. About how I've learned how important it is to have your own friends, to be surrounded by them, to have them with you sharing your past and understanding your futures. After Ireland is the one thing I treasure most now, seeing my family. My parents have taken off work the week I get back and I plan on holding their hands the entire time, sleeping in between them and ending each sentence with "I love you."
Congrats to England on their win today! I must admit when Crouch FINALY scored that goal my eyes teared up as I cheered loudly with the rest of the nutty England fans.
Hope all is well with everyone and I'm well looking forward to seeing everyone again very soon!
Oh yeah, Sim City is so hard, isn't it? Gosh.

| Common England!

One of my favorite reminders of how much England loves me. Warm memories. The newest reminder is this, England's Mother Nature isn't taking a fancy to me.

I hope it clears up a bit for Lauren and Brandon who should be arriving here today! Hurray! I fancy a pint with the lot!
Besides the weather things are good. Andy's been educating me on American films - we've done the MI trilogy, and next week we finish off the X Men trilogy. How did I ever call myself and American? His next lesson is on Wayne's World. World Cup fever is getting very strong, especially since Andy's Arsenal lost to Brazil.

| One Year : Life Three

View from a cafe in Chiswick, west London. I have been here a week. In that time I've gone to see Jenny Lewis, entertained a friend, then entertained myself. Monday was a bank holiday and I was more than eager to jump right in and adopt the customs of my country-for-now.
Speaking of this country that I have - I almost didn't have it. As when I went through immigration control without proof of a return flight to America or train to Paris I was hassled by a woman obviously having a bad day. Anyways, I have a special stamp in my passport now that says I must be out of the country by August 12 and shall not work or receive public funds. Welcome back to the UK, love!
I still don't think I realize yet that I'm not going back to Paris. I keep having the thought, "Ugh, this is so much better in Paris," with the implied, "So glad I'll be there soon again." Everything is better in Paris. But these English are so quirky and make no sense whatsoever.
I was really put to the test of living with someone this week. Well, more like Andy was. I accidentally flooded his bathroom a bit, broke a drawer in his fridge, broke a plate, nearly jammed his washing machine. But it has been almost 2 days since any disasters, hurray!
Everything is going really, really well. It is sunny and beautiful here. Andy's been on the late shift all this week (except for today) so he gets home at 8, we make dinner, curl up on the couch watch a movie, then we MUST watch an episode of X-files. And when I say, "Andy, this is scary." One hundred percent confused he says, "What is scary," Ahh! This show!!!! These people whose faces are falling off, these vampires!! That show is scary.

| Been there, done that.

The first leg of the trip was with our entire class to Berlin. It seemed that Berlin was the modern architecture capital of the world. Oh, but the potatoes! Danke!

Most Americans don't know anything about Croatia. I use to be one of them, but now I know the European vacation secret. Split, Croatia! It is what ever American resort tries to be only in Split, its real and its medieval. Never have I seen such clear blue water, clear blue skies. Oh, and it just so happened a US Navy and Marine ship was docked there so we made some friends. Friends who hadn't seen American girls in a long, long time. Hvala!

You're going to think I'm lying but we were driving our car up a steep Tuscan hill towards a farm house we hoped would be selling fresh pasta. Another car comes down the hill and we move over a bit to let them by only to get stuck in a small ditch. Good thing minutes later a van full of Italian farm boys drove by and hooked our car to their van with a chain and pulled it out for us. A moment that I will never forget. Grazie!
Now I am back in Paris and it is as beautiful as any place can be. It feels good to speak a language I know more than Thank You in. I've got lots of packing to do but that wont stop me from soaking in some Paris sun. Merci!
